To stop the impending devastation, Aiden becomes a rookie Hunter and teams up with Julius's squadron of elite Hunters called the "Ace Hunters". When a solo expedition to track a monster leads to him biting off more than he can chew, he is suddenly rescued by Julius, the Ace Commander, who has arrived to warn Aiden of an Elder Dragon migration that is threatening to destroy his village and everything he loves. Set sometime before the events of 4, the movie follows Aiden (Dante Basco), a young man and aspiring Hunter living in a quiet village in the Old World.
The movie sheds some light on the Ace Hunters from Monster Hunter 4 and serves as an Origins Episode for Aiden, the Ace Cadet of the Ace Hunters who reappeared as the Excitable A-Lister in Monster Hunter: World. Overall, the characters' deaths come serve a purpose, both in the film and in Aiden's character development arc.Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild is a 3D animated film directed by Steven Yamamoto, co-animated by China's Base FX and Malaysia's The Monk Studios, and based on Capcom's massively popular Monster Hunter franchise, released on Netflix on August 12th, 2021. The young hunter reads Mae's final message to her parents, where she states her pride in fighting for the guild to help build a more harmonious world.
However, in the film's final moments, we see Mae's legacy being carried on as Aiden hands her notes to the only hunter who seems to take his story seriously.
On the other hand, Mae is killed by the dragon while defending a young girl from Lunastra's flames, cutting short a life dedicated to monster hunting and sharing the knowledge she collected in her journal. However, his selfless sacrifice to save the innocent villagers is a redemptive act that restores his honor. Julius explains that Ravi was once a Hunter in good standing with the Guild, but became disgraced when he abandoned the organization's rules to hunt monsters for sport. The first companion to fall, Ravi, is a somewhat enigmatic character in "Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild," but viewers do come to understand that he has something of a troubled past.
